Join us in welcoming an exciting new voice in the horror genre to the bookshop and celebrate the release of her debut short story collection; the spine chilling Make a Home of Me by Vanessa Santos, published by Dead Ink Books.
Make a Home of Me is about all the ways in which our sanctuaries can turn into foreign places, casting us as strangers as we roam the halls and the terror of when a safe place becomes something unrecognisable.
Gaze upon a mysterious dinner party with a sickening twist.
Partake in a woman's intense new relationship with a single father and his strangely shy daughter.
Rediscover the journals of a famous artist with a singular obsession who disappeared in suspicious circumstances.
And witness a family driven to desperation by the impossible appearance of nonsensical notes; and a seemingly happily married couple driven to the edge of despair by a neighbour's crying baby.
Vanessa Santos was born and raised on a tiny island inthe middle of the Atlantic, and now lives in Scotland. When she's not hiking through the gorgeous Scottish landscape you can find her within close vicinity of a coffee, a good book, and invariably, a croissant. Make a Home of Me is her debut collection, with her debut novel set to release in 2026.
Lauren Archer is a writer of gothic fiction. Her work has been published in Modern Gothic (Fly on the Wall Press) and Motives Unknown (Dead Ink Books).
